INTERNET CONDEMS DAILY MAIL OVER HEADLINE REPORTING KLAUDIA ZAKRZEWSKA’S PASSING

Daily Mail has come under fire after sharing a headline on social media referring to influencer Klaudia Zakrzewska as a “BBL influencer” following her death, with critics accusing the publication of being insensitive, disrespectful and prioritising engagement over dignity, while others have defended the wording as reflective of how she was publicly known.

The backlash began after the Daily Mail shared an article on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the headline:

“BBL Influencer, 32, mowed down by car outside soho nightclub dies”.

Many users quickly pointed out that the wording differed from the headline used within the article itself, which referred to her more neutrally as an “Influencer, 32”, leading to speculation that the social media caption had been deliberately altered to attract attention and drive traffic.

Critics argued that reducing Klaudia Zakrzewska to a cosmetic procedure in the headline was dehumanising, particularly given the circumstances surrounding her death. Many expressed concern that friends and family members could come across the post while grieving, describing the phrasing as both insensitive and unnecessary.

Several public figures also weighed in. Social media personality Sarel responded directly to the post, writing,

“Wow. This is someone’s child you know. This phrasing is so disrespectful.”

Activist and author Kwajo Tweneboa also criticised the wording, stating,

“’BBL Influencer’. Have they lost their minds. No respect at all.”

However, not everyone agreed with the criticism. Controversial online personality Lin Mei defended the headline, arguing that it reflected how Zakrzewska had chosen to present herself publicly.

She wrote,

“There is a lot of criticism for this headline and yes it may be perceived as insensitive… But this is what she led her life with. Interviews were about how many BBLs she did, most of her videos were about showing off and platforming her BBL – it was an integral part of who she presented to be.”

She continued,

“You will be remembered or viewed based on how you lived you life publicly, that’s the reality and news won’t dig deep to see the kind things or private things you did, or how those closest to you remember you.”

Online reaction has remained divided. One commenter wrote,

“It doesn’t matter how she was perceived or presented herself. It’s about the fact that she was KILLED! Use her name. She’s someone. She’s a human being!!”

Another added,

“We have actually been desensitised and have kind of lost the care for human life, sh*t is scary out here, what the actual hell.”

A third said,

“It may be insensitive but it was literally what she was known for, on her page her identity was defined by her BBL and her Only Fans.”

The controversy comes following the death of Zakrzewska in central London. The 32 year old influencer was reportedly struck by a car outside a Soho nightclub in the early hours of the morning following an altercation. Emergency services attended the scene and she was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where she later died from her injuries. The incident has since sparked an ongoing police investigation.

As the debate continues across social media, the Daily Mail has not publicly commented on the criticism surrounding the headline.
