Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with further counts of rape, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed. The new charges relate to an additional woman and follow a fresh investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
The 32 year old Ghana international is now facing two additional counts of rape involving a fourth woman, after prosecutors authorised further charges following a review of new evidence. The CPS said the allegations connected to the latest charges were first reported in August 2025.
Partey is already awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to five counts of rape involving two women and one count of sexual assault relating to a third woman. The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022.
A spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service said the new charges were brought after it, “carefully reviewed a comprehensive file of evidence” submitted by the Metropolitan Police.

Partey is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 13 March. His trial on the existing charges is scheduled to begin on 2 November 2026.
The former Arsenal midfielder’s contract with the North London club expired on 30 June last year and was not renewed, leaving him a free agent. Partey joined Arsenal in October 2020 from Atlético Madrid, where he won the Europa League, and spent five seasons at the Emirates Stadium.
Since leaving Arsenal, Partey has signed for Spanish club Villarreal, where he continues to play while on bail, under conditions that require him to notify police of international travel and that prohibit contact with the complainants.
Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Partey is currently expected to travel with Ghana for the 2026 World Cup this summer.

Previously, his defence lawyer Jenny Wiltshire said:
“Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him. He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three year investigation. He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name. Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further.”
A police investigation into Partey was first launched in February 2022 after officers received an initial report of rape. The case remains ongoing.
