MARIAM MUSA AND ADEOLA PATRONNE SPARK SPECULATION AFTER UNFOLLOWING EACH OTHER ON INSTAGRAM

MARIAM MUSA AND ADEOLA PATRONNE SPARK SPECULATION AFTER UNFOLLOWING EACH OTHER ON INSTAGRAM

Mariam Musa and Adeola Patronne have left fans wondering whether there could be trouble between them after it appeared that the pair no longer follow one another on Instagram.

Neither creator has publicly confirmed that there has been a falling out, but the apparent unfollow has been enough to get people talking online, particularly given just how established their friendship has become over the years.

The pair are both well-known UK-based content creators, with Mariam building a career across beauty, fashion, lifestyle, YouTube, television and podcasting. She has also moved into presenting, including work with Channel 4, while Adeola has established herself as a YouTuber, presenter and podcaster, known for her outspoken personality, comedy and candid takes on relationships, culture and everyday life.

Although they each have their own careers, Mariam and Adeola have spent years appearing together both on and off screen, becoming particularly well known as part of a wider friendship circle that has included fellow creator Nella Rose.

Their friendship was already well established by the time they launched their first major podcast project together. In 2021, Mariam, Adeola and Nella joined forces for PRESSED, a BBC Radio 1Xtra podcast which saw the trio discuss everything from relationships and social media to mental and physical health and the experiences of Black women. At the time, the three were described as having built their connection through trips abroad, nights out and supporting each other away from their online careers.

The podcast went on to become a significant part of Mariam and Adeola's careers. BBC Studios previously revealed that PRESSED had secured more than two million downloads within its first eight months, while also describing it as the highest-performing podcast for an under-35 audience across BBC Sounds at the time.

Their friendship was also something they openly discussed themselves. Speaking about what made a friendship strong, Adeola highlighted trust and mutual respect, while Mariam pointed to loyalty, understanding and having a genuine friend. Those comments gave audiences an insight into why their relationship had worked despite their very different personalities.

Over the years, that contrast has arguably become part of what makes Mariam and Adeola such a popular duo.

Adeola is often the more direct and outspoken of the two, with a blunt style that can sometimes divide opinion. Mariam, by comparison, tends to come across as softer, sweeter and more wholesome, creating a noticeable contrast between the pair whenever they appear together.

That difference has occasionally led people to question how the friendship works, with some viewers interpreting Adeola's straightforward nature as harsh while seeing Mariam as the more gentle personality. Yet, despite those differences, the pair have continued to work together and maintain a friendship that has lasted for years.

Their chemistry eventually extended into another podcast, this time as a duo. In October 2024, Mariam and Adeola launched DEEP IT!, produced by The Fellas Studios, with the pair taking on listener dilemmas and personal stories while bringing the same unfiltered friendship dynamic that audiences had become familiar with. The podcast was presented around their contrasting personalities, with the show's description promising "big sister vibes, plenty of laughs, and a sprinkle of side-eye".

The podcast quickly became another space where fans could see the pair's friendship play out. They discussed relationships, dating, friendship issues and personal experiences, often bouncing off one another in the same way they had done throughout their years of content together.

Even in 2026, the duo continued producing episodes of DEEP IT!, with the podcast reaching its final episode, titled We Have Some News..., on May 25. The episode looked back on the journey of the podcast and thanked listeners for their support, bringing the latest chapter of their joint podcasting career to a close.

That history is exactly why the apparent Instagram unfollow has caught the attention of their audience.

For fans who have watched Mariam and Adeola's friendship develop across years of videos, podcasts, appearances and shared moments, seeing the two seemingly disconnect from one another on social media naturally raises questions about whether something has changed behind the scenes.

Some followers have already taken to social media to share their concerns, with one person writing:

“I don’t want to assume but if it’s not that deep Mariam and Adeola can you shut down the internet if this is untrue please! We can’t be killing good female duos!”

Another fan questioned whether their contrasting personalities could eventually cause problems, commenting:

“If it’s fixable I hope they do but the mean girl friends with nice girl dynamic usually doesn’t last.”

Others simply appeared upset at the possibility of the pair no longer being close, with one person writing:

“Oh noo! I really love them together!!!”

However, at this stage, there is no confirmation that the Instagram unfollow means the pair have fallen out, nor has either Mariam or Adeola publicly addressed speculation surrounding their friendship.

For now, fans are left reading into a social media change involving two people who have spent years convincing audiences that their very different personalities can work surprisingly well together. Whether the unfollow is a sign of something more serious or simply a change behind the scenes remains unclear, but given how much people have invested in Mariam and Adeola's friendship, it is unlikely the speculation will disappear anytime soon.
