MAN ANGRY GINGE CONFRONTED OVER ALLEGED RACIST ABUSE OF GHANA PLAYERS IDENTIFIED

Icelandic football pundit and former player Sigurður Gísli Bond Snorrason, better known as Siggi Bond, has found himself at the centre of a controversy following allegations that he made racist comments during England's World Cup group-stage match against Ghana. The incident came to light after popular streamer and content creator AngryGinge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, recorded and shared footage from inside Boston Stadium during Tuesday's goalless draw between England and Ghana.

According to Burtwistle, he confronted Bond after hearing what he described as racist remarks aimed at members of the Ghana national team. The content creator then reported the matter to stadium stewards, expecting action to be taken.

In video footage shared online, Burtwistle can be seen challenging Bond over the alleged comments before approaching security staff. The clips quickly spread across social media, generating widespread discussion among football fans.

Speaking after the incident, Burtwistle said: "The man sat in front was making incredibly racist comments towards the Ghanaian national team.

"Due to this, it was only right for me to stand up and deal with this.

"Watch how the stewards deal with this - it is actually embarrassing."

The 24-year-old later expressed frustration with the response from stadium officials, claiming the individual was allowed to remain in the ground despite multiple witnesses reporting what had allegedly been said.

He said a steward informed him they "can't kick him out", despite concerns being raised about the remarks.

Although footage appeared to show the man leaving his seat area, Burtwistle later claimed he was not removed from the stadium and remained in attendance throughout the match.

"Absolutely not good enough from the American stewards," Burtwistle said.

"The message before the games at football is kick it out, if you see it, say it.

"I've gone and reported it, the guy, he's not been kicked out of the stadium, we saw him as we left, he's been able to watch the whole game after some of the things he was saying about the Ghana team I'm not even going to repeat."

He continued: "I think it's a disgrace that he's been allowed to stay in and watch the game after having evidence on the vlog.

"I've been over and reported it, and five witnesses, literally all of us have heard him say it, and he's still been able to watch the game."

Burtwistle also claimed that one steward suggested the individual would only have been ejected if he made another racist comment during the match, a response the influencer described as "ridiculous".

The situation escalated further after Burtwistle said he received abusive and threatening messages online following the publication of the footage. Sharing screenshots on social media, he criticised those targeting him for speaking out.

Alongside the posts, he wrote: "Standing up to racism gets you this? What a world we live in."

The controversy has sparked significant debate online, with many supporters praising Burtwistle for challenging behaviour he believed to be unacceptable, while others have called for due process and a full understanding of the circumstances surrounding the allegations.

Bond, a recognised figure in Icelandic football media, is a former footballer who has become known through television appearances, podcasts and football-related content. His nickname "Bond" was officially added to his legal name in 2021 after approval from Iceland's Naming Committee. According to Icelandic media, the nickname originated from his grandfather, who was nicknamed Bond because friends believed he resembled actor Sean Connery.

In footage shared online following the confrontation, Bond appeared to address the controversy and offered an apology.

"I apologize for my comments about the Ghana players," he said.

He added: "This will not happen again, can we forget this?"

At the time of writing, no official disciplinary ruling or formal findings regarding the allegations have been announced. FIFA has been approached for comment.
