ZEZE MILLZ OPENS UP ABOUT HER FEARS OF MOTHERHOOD

Media personality Zeze Millz has sparked a wider conversation about motherhood after openly discussing why she has no desire to have children of her own.

Never one to shy away from sharing her opinions, the outspoken presenter addressed the topic after seeing people discussing her views online, offering further insight into her decision and the realities of parenthood that concern her.

Taking to X, Zeze wrote: “God forbid a woman doesn’t want kids,” before explaining that the possibility of having to raise a child alone is something she finds particularly daunting.

“I have no desire to raise kids on my own... the fact that it’s always a possibility that can happen. Scares me.”

She went on to argue that regardless of marital status, much of the responsibility of raising children often falls on mothers. However, Zeze clarified that she isn't opposed to being in a relationship with someone who already has children, describing the arrangement as getting “the best of both worlds.”

Her comments have been met with considerable support, with many commending her honesty about a subject that can still carry significant social expectations for women.

For generations, motherhood has often been treated as a natural milestone in a woman's life, with the decision not to have children sometimes met with questions, criticism or assumptions that she'll eventually change her mind.

Zeze's remarks have since encouraged a broader discussion about the pressures surrounding motherhood, the responsibilities that come with raising children and whether women should feel obligated to pursue parenthood in the first place.

One person praised the importance of considering such a life-changing decision carefully, writing:

“Honestly having kids is a scary thought. You mess up and now you’ve caused an issue for society! I wish people thought more deeply about this”

Another shared how becoming a parent had actually strengthened their understanding of women who choose a different path:

“She has a point, becoming a mother gave even more respect to women who stand by their choice not to have kids”

Others highlighted how difficult it can be for women to openly admit that motherhood simply isn't something they want.

“A lot of women feel this way but they are ashamed to open up and talk about it . Not every woman wants to be a mother and that’s ok”

While Zeze is certainly no stranger to getting people talking, this particular conversation has resonated with those who believe women should have the freedom to make decisions about motherhood without having to justify them.

Beyond the question of whether to have children, her comments also raise another: how much of the responsibility of parenting continues to fall on women, even when both parents are present?
