Tributes are being shared in memory of Blessing Olusegun on what would have been her 27th birthday, as those who knew her and members of the public continue to reflect on her life and legacy.
Blessing, a 21-year-old business student and care worker, was found dead in Bexhill-on-Sea in September 2020. An inquest later concluded that her death was accidental, however her family have continued to call for further answers and a more detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding her passing.

Following her death, Blessing’s mother, Esther Abe, spoke about her daughter’s personality and the importance of remembering the person she was in life. She described Blessing as driven, kind and full of ambition, someone who worked hard but also embraced life and enjoyed spending time with those close to her.
“She was working hard but still knew how to enjoy herself. Her favourite quote was, ‘I’m living my best life.’”

In the years since, Blessing’s story has been referenced in wider conversations about how missing and deceased Black women are reported and prioritised in the UK, with campaigners and members of the public raising concerns about disparities in media coverage and investigative attention.
On social media, tributes continue to highlight the personal impact she had on those around her and the enduring grief felt by friends and community members. One commenter wrote:
“Hits harder when you grew up with her personally. Man Blessing used to come help me cook rice because I couldn't make it for shizzzz! Everyone loved her! She had no issues with anyone! Till today this is the biggest mystery to all of us! RIP Blessing! We pray for answers one day!”
