Chris Brown pleads not guilty to assault and weapon charges after alleged nightclub bottle attack in London. Trial set for October 2026.
Chris Brown has officially pleaded not guilty to new charges connected to an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub last year.
The US singer appeared at Southwark Crown Court where he denied charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH) and possession of an offensive weapon. He had already denied a more serious charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, which is also part of the case.
The incident took place in February 2023 at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, where Brown is accused of attacking music producer Abe Diaw. According to reports, CCTV footage allegedly shows Brown hitting the man with a bottle before continuing to punch and kick him.
The court appearance was brief, but not without reaction. Several people in the public gallery reportedly gasped when the singer entered the courtroom.
Brown, 35, is currently out on bail after posting a £5 million bond earlier this year, which allowed him to continue with his Breezy Bowl XX world tour. He’s already performed in cities like Manchester, Amsterdam, and Cardiff while the case unfolds in the background.
Under his bail conditions, Brown must hand in his passport when not performing and follow certain restrictions. A trial is set to begin on 26 October 2026 and is expected to last around a week.
The alleged victim, Diaw, is also believed to be pursuing a civil claim for damages.
So far, neither Brown nor his reps have made any public comments about the charges or the incident itself.
While fans continue to pack out his shows, this case adds another chapter to the singer’s long history of legal issues. Whether or not it impacts his career this time remains to be seen, but all eyes will be on the court when the trial kicks off next year.
