ANDREW TATE LOSES BOXING DEBUT TO REALITY STAR CHASE DEMOOR

Controversial influencer and former professional kickboxer Andrew Tate, who styles himself as the “Top G,” was beaten and left bloodied on Saturday night after losing his Misfits Boxing debut against Chase DeMoor in Dubai. His defeat has prompted widespread ridicule from his online critics, with one spectator describing it as a “humiliation ritual”.

The 39 year old self proclaimed “misogynist” has been sparking controversy for the majority of his time in the spotlight. Tate first rose to fame after appearing on the British reality TV show Big Brother in 2016. He was booted from the house after only six days, following the emergence of a video that appeared to show him attacking a woman. Since then, some of Tate’s more serious criminal charges have extended across the globe, including being put on house arrest in Romania and being wanted in the UK, where he and his brother Tristan face a series of 21 charges, including rape, assault, human trafficking and controlling prostitution.

Despite being favoured to win the fight, this marked Tate’s first bout in five years, while American actor and reality TV star Chase DeMoor had already stepped into the ring seven times this year. The rusty fighter acknowledged that his time in retirement had affected his performance, stating it seems the ‘Cobra’ had ‘been out too long’.

Nevertheless, the former world champion kickboxer’s pedigree was evident, and although Tate was defeated, the contest was closely fought. DeMoor ultimately won by split decision, with two judges scoring the fight 58–56 in his favour. The third scorecard, however, reportedly drew disbelief from the Dubai crowd after it was scored 57–57 as a draw, a decision Tate himself contested, stating he ‘lost fair and square’ and only had victory in “the first two rounds”.

However, in the third round, DeMoor shocked the crowd and appeared to catch Tate by surprise as he took control of the ring and pressed forward in search of a knockout. With blood streaming down his face, Tate looked close to tumbling at points, yet he managed to endure throughout the fight, which ultimately led to DeMoor securing the victory on points.

Tate showcased a Tate styled version of humility, yet still a level of humility rarely seen from him, as he took to social media after the fight, writing,

“99.9% of 40 year old men with 700 million dollars sit around with wh*res…I could have done the same and talked sht on the Internet and took no risks and just lived easy.”
He added,
“In my heart I knew I’m too old. I knew I’d been out too long. That’s why I had to do it.
To face fear. I can’t live scared. I have to know I faced it.”
“I lost fair and square. Chase is a true champion. A warrior. I’m proud of him.
He deserves that belt.”

He also said at the post fight press conference that it’s ‘better to try and lose than to not try at all’, a sentiment he echoed on X after his loss, posting,

“Most men have never felt the sting of defeat because most men have never even tried.”

Many relished in Tate’s defeat just days after the bloody defeat of his fellow controversial man fluencer Jake Paul. Still, for many of Tate’s critics, the fight was a lost opportunity to force him into facing judicial punishment. Online spectators and politicians alike urged Prime Minister Keir Starmer to seize Tate’s trip to Dubai as an opportunity to extradite him to the UK, where he and his brother Tristan face 21 serious charges.

Shadow foreign secretary Dame Priti Patel said,
“The Tate brothers face extremely serious charges and it is long since time they were brought to face justice in the UK…The Prime Minister must call on the Dubai authorities to arrest them when they visit and extradite them so that the proper judicial process can take place.”
