JAMAICAN SECONDARY SCHOOL BANS STUDENTS FROM WEARING BABY HAIRS

A 28-year-old Glasgow man, Frederick Danquah, has received a 10-year prison sentence following his conviction for attempting to murder a two-year-old child by stepping in front of a train with him. Danquah brought the toddler to east Glasgow railway station, Garrowhill station, in July 2023. Danquah placed the small child on his shoulders before stepping into the path of an oncoming train which ultimately struck them both.

Pho Na in Old Kent Road, Southwark, which once boasted a 4.6 rating was recently closed after dog meat labelled "goat wrapped in leaves" was found in its freezer during a health inspection. The claimed “goat meat” was sent away for further testing, with final analysis revealing the innocuous meat was in fact, dog meat.

A much-loved South London pub and cultural hub is facing an uncertain future after pub giant Young’s acquired the building’s freehold. Owner Clement Ogbonnaya — founder of The Village People pub group, which also operates the celebrated Prince of Peckham — first sounded the alarm on July 28 in an Instagram video that quickly went viral. In it, he revealed he had been given what he described as an “unreal” deadline to buy the freehold from an unnamed pub company.

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has revealed how, as a teenager, she openly accused a classmate of cheating during an exam — a move that ultimately led to his expulsion. In an in-depth interview with the BBC’s Amol Rajan, Badenoch said she was “about 14 or 15” when she stood up mid-test and declared, “He’s cheating — he’s the one doing it.” The accused pupil was later expelled.‍

In 2024, major crimes increased by 14%, with mobile phone theft being a key concern. As it stands, one phone is stolen every six minutes in London. Australia now advises citizens to “exercise a high degree of caution” when visiting the UK.

Alanna Quinn Idris, who was left permanently blind in one eye after a brutal attack in Dublin in 2021, has called the six-year sentence given to her attacker “not fair”. The attacker, who instigated the assault by calling his cousin and two others, admitted to procuring the attack. Though he didn’t directly hit her, he led the assailants to the scene and also attacked her friend. Ms Quinn Idris said the sentence doesn’t reflect the lifelong impact of her injuries.
