NELLA ROSE SLAMS FRENCH SPA ACCUSING THEM OF RACISM AND ISLAMOPHOBIA DURING BRAND TRIP

Social media influencer Nella Rose has called out a French spa for alleged racism and Islamophobia during a promotional trip with a brand.

‍

Nella was joined by roughly 19 other influencers of colour to promote the black-owned beauty brand, Topicals, in the French Alps.

‍

Nella summarised the incident in a video, detailing the events which resulted in the group leaving the spa abruptly.

‍

‍

According to the content creator, their luxury stay in the French Alps had been pleasant up until their trip to the QC Terme spa was cut short when staff denied two Muslim women in the group entry due to their modest swimwear.

‍

The influencers were told by a staff member Nella has named as "Seb" that their burkinis were "not acceptable" to wear in the swimming pool, and that they could purchase a bikini or swimsuit from the spa store.

However, Nella, who is fluent in French, and other members of the group were quick to call out the staff for their "Islamophobic" swimsuit policy.

‍

The I'm a Celeb star briefly went upstairs to capture some promotional images before returning to the group to inform them that two members of their party had been denied access.

‍

Unfortunately, the remainder of the group also had a negative and potentially discriminatory experience with spa staff, as they were told they were making other spa-goers "uncomfortable" and asked to leave.

‍

Nella claims the group were all sporting Topicals' trending pink under-eye patches at the time, implying the group's appearance was far from intimidating. She also added that she could not visibly see that any visitors were uncomfortable by their presence.

‍

Events took a turn when the venue allegedly called the police on the group, with a video clip even showing a staff member mockingly telling the group to have a "good time" at the police station.

‍

‍

One of the Muslim girls who was denied entry uploaded a snap of what she was wearing when the venue refused to let her enter, and also condemned the resort for its conduct.

‍

She also praised Topicals for supporting the influencers after their unfortunate experience.

‍

‍

The influencer outrageously pointed out that not only did staff allegedly suggest that two Muslim women buy bikinis, but that this occurred during the holy month of Ramadan.

‍

Topicals has since spoken out in support of the influencers, even pledging to donate $10,000 to French Black and Muslim organisations.
