GLASGOW WOMAN, 26, FOUND DEAD IN LONDON HOTEL AS FAMILY AWAITS ANSWERS

GLASGOW WOMAN, 26, FOUND DEAD IN LONDON HOTEL AS FAMILY AWAITS ANSWERS

A 26-year-old woman from Glasgow has been found dead in a London hotel room after concerns were raised by her twin sister. Samorine Djene Touré, who worked for ScotRail and lived in the Yoker area of Glasgow, had travelled to the capital over the bank holiday weekend.

When her family couldn’t reach her, her twin sister Samyra contacted the Paragraph Edmonton hotel in Kendal Gardens on Sunday, May 4, and urged staff to check on her. A short time later, Samyra called back only to be informed by paramedics that her sister had passed away.

At present, the cause of Samorine’s death remains unknown. The family has been told a police investigation is ongoing, and a post-mortem is expected to provide more clarity in the coming days.

James Aitken, Samyra’s partner, described the devastating moment they learned the news. “She completely broke down,” he said. “Their step-dad and little brother arrived at the same time as me and they were absolutely distraught, screaming and wailing – we all were. It’s still a massive shock to us and unbelievable.”

James shared that Samyra and her stepfather have since travelled to Paris to be with other family members. Much of the family is originally from the Ivory Coast, but they are now waiting in France as arrangements are made to repatriate Samorine’s body.

A GoFundMe page created by James has already raised over £5,000 to support funeral and repatriation costs. “They would like her to be buried back in her home country, which is a common tradition,” he said. “We can’t really go forward organising this without knowing what’s happening and how long they will keep her for.”

Samorine, a former pupil at Knightswood Secondary School, was known for her deep faith, her love of travel, and her devotion to her nieces and nephews. “She loved life and was so happy,” James said. “She was such a good aunty to the kids, she loved them. For the past few months she was praying five times a day, learning Arabic and teaching my children too. She was really trying to be the best person she could.”

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “On Sunday, 4 May at 11.25am, police were notified by the London Ambulance Service about the death of a woman at Kendal Gardens, N18. Officers attended alongside paramedics and a 26-year-old woman was sadly declared dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

“Her death is being treated as unexpected, but is not believed to be suspicious at this time. Officers are currently awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination that will be held in due course.”

The Touré family now face a painful wait for answers as they prepare to say goodbye to a young woman remembered for her kindness, warmth and deep connection to her faith.
