A north London family is pleading for the public to come forward with vital information after the tragic death of Mahad Abdi Mohamed, a 27‑year‑old beloved father who was fatally shot in Tottenham. Police believe he was the victim of a planned attack targeting someone else, and his grieving relatives are desperate for justice. Mahad was shot at approximately 8.45pm on 20 March while he was breaking his fast on Waverley Road with a friend, shortly after Ramadan fast‑breaking, according to police investigations.
Detectives say a stolen Mitsubishi Outlander pulled up, the occupants opened fire and fled, later setting the vehicle ablaze.
His sister, 23‑year‑old Amal Abdi Mohamed, described her brother as “a loving father … planning to get married in the summer”
She said:
“My beloved brother is gone, and we still don’t know why. Someone knows what happened to him, and yet we are here with no answer, no justice, and just a family torn apart trying to navigate through the pain”
Amal added that her five‑year‑old son
“looked up to him like a superhero” and that Mahad “had this rare gift of making people feel seen, heard and loved”.
The Metropolitan Police’s senior investigator, DCI Rebecca Woodsford, emphasised that she believes this was a pre‑meditated shooting targeting another individual, and that Mahad was killed by mistake.
Four men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and later bailed, but no charges have been filed. DCI Woodsford appealed:
“If you think you have information about the people that could be involved … we need that evidence to place before the Crown Prosecution Service”.
