DRUSKI POKES FUN AT BRITISH ACTORS 'TAKING AMERICAN ROLES'

Druski is once again blending comedy with sharp cultural commentary in his latest skit, taking aim at the growing trend of Black British actors portraying iconic American characters on screen. The sketch -shared on social media - introduces viewers to fake British actor Sampson DuBois, acted by Druski. Sampson plays an enslaved Black man in a movie titled Release the Shackles.

Early in the skit, DuBois receives feedback from the film’s white director asking for “more American slave” in his performance. Rather than understanding the emotional depth behind the note, DuBois assumes the director simply wants more convincing dialogue and “back-and-forth banter.”

During a mock interview with Extra, DuBois describes the role as both “cheeky” and “a little bit out of my comfort zone.” He then delivers one of the sketch’s most absurd lines, saying, “During the filming of this role and this character, I felt oppressed, like an American slave. Like, a lot of struggle. I studied the art.”

The satire continues during an appearance at The American Guild Awards, where DuBois appears more focused on perfecting an American accent and delivering a strong performance than understanding the painful history connected to the character he is portraying. The moment pokes fun at Hollywood’s tendency to prioritize performance prestige over cultural authenticity.

Later in the sketch, DuBois appears on Entertainment Tonight to discuss another project, Concrete Jungle – Volume 2. Sitting beside a white director, who refers to him as a “good London boy,” the actor once again centers the conversation on “character development,” further emphasizing the disconnect between the performer and the reality behind the roles.

The skit soon went viral on social media with British actors finding the humour in Druski's performance. London actor Damson Idris, who gained fame playing an American character Franklin Saint in Snowfall commented on Druski's post, writing "you ain't sh*t," with laughing emojis.
