Sir David Beckham has become Britain’s first billionaire sportsman after he and his wife, Lady Victoria Beckham, reportedly more than doubled their wealth over the past year, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.
The celebrity couple first met in 1997 after a Manchester United match. Victoria, then globally renowned as Posh Spice from the Spice Girls, attended the game with fellow Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm, known as Mel C.

The pair later married on 4 July 1999 at Luttrellstown Castle and have since multiplied their wealth and brand empire many times over. Victoria went on to establish herself as a fashion designer with her eponymous luxury label, Victoria Beckham, which has reported annual revenues in excess of £50 million in recent years. David has built a lucrative business portfolio spanning endorsement deals, his grooming and wellness brand House 99, media venture Studio 99 and his co ownership stake in Inter Miami CF.

The dramatic increase in the couple’s wealth has largely been driven by David’s US investments, particularly in Inter Miami, with Lionel Messi’s signing on a deal widely reported to be worth around £118 million through to 2028 significantly boosting the value of Beckham’s stake in the club. A major property development next to the team’s home ground, Chase Stadium, has provided an additional surge in value. Meanwhile, Victoria’s fashion empire has continued to grow, with revenues reportedly doubling to £100 million.

Posh and Becks’ love story has captivated the public for 29 years, from their early relationship in one of their first homes together in Leytonstone before their wealth and fame exploded, to their well known Hertfordshire mansion nicknamed “Beckingham Palace” and later their luxury townhouse in Holland Park, which remains one of their main UK bases.

The couple have evolved from the boy and girl next door into two of the country’s most successful residents. They are now said to have a combined fortune of £1.185 billion, more than double the £500 million estimated net worth listed in 2025.
