These 19 women don't wait for one day a year to be celebrated. They're building businesses, creating art, feeding communities, writing our stories, leading movements, and shaping culture every single day.

Founder of the MOBO Awards, Kanya King created one of the UK’s most important music platforms celebrating Black music and culture. Since launching MOBO in 1996, she has helped elevate artists across genres like hip-hop, grime, R&B and Afrobeats while pushing the British music industry to recognise diverse talent.

Founder of Sistah Space, Ngolazi Fulani created the UK’s first specialist domestic abuse charity supporting women of African and Caribbean heritage. Through advocacy, safe housing and counselling services, she has raised national awareness about houw domestic abuse disproportionately affects Black women.

Aisha Bywaters is a casting director working across film, TV, music videos and commercials. In 2022 & 2024 Aisha won the BAFTA TV craft award. Her tv credits include ‘Daddy Issues’ and the upcoming 50 cent starz boxing drama ‘Fightland’. Aisha’s film credits include the last tree, polite society & uk casting for feature film the substance.

Beverley De-Gale OBE is the co-founder of the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust, a UK-based charity established in 1996 alongside Orin Lewis OBE. Motivated by her son Daniel De-Gale’s search for a stem cell donor, she works to increase ethnic minority registration on stem cell, blood, and organ donor registers.

Doreen Lawrence is a tireless campaigner for justice following the racist murder of her son Stephen Lawrence. Her activism helped expose institutional racism within policing and led to major reforms after the Macpherson Report. She now sits in the House of Lords and continues to advocate for racial equality.

Sheniece Charway is YouTube’s Artist Relations Manager for Black Music & Culture at YouTube, where she plays a key role in championing Black talent and culture within the music industry. Her work has earned recognition including Music Week’s Rising Star Award at the Women in Music Awards.

Afua Kyei is the Chief Financial Officer of the Bank of England, becoming the first Black person to hold the role. She oversees the bank’s finances and operations, playing a key role in one of the UK’s most important financial institutions.

Dame Pat McGrath is one of the most influential makeup artists in the world and the founder of Pat McGrath Labs. Known as the “mother of modern makeup,” she became the first makeup artist to be made a Dame for her services to the fashion and beauty industries.

Bernardine Evaristo is an award-winning author and academic. Her novel ‘Girl, Woman, Other’ won the Booker Prize, making her the first Black woman to receive the prestigious literary award.

Rose Hulse is the founder of ScreenHits TV, a global streaming aggregator that brings together multiple streaming services into one platform. She has built partnerships with major entertainment companies and is recognised as an innovative tech entrepreneur.

Adejoké Bakare is a groundbreaking British Nigerian-born chef and the founder of Chishuru, a restaurant celebrating West African cuisine. She became the first Black woman in the UK to receive a Michelin star, marking a historic moment for the hospitality industry.

Patricia Bright is a leading British digital creator, entrepreneur and author. She made history as the first Black British YouTuber to reach one million subscribers. Beyond content creation, she has expanded into business, launching her haircare brand UWA in 2023 and creating platforms that encourage financial independence and entrepreneurship.

Cynthia Erivo is an award-winning British actor and singer known for powerful performances on stage and screen. She won a Tony Award for her role in The Color Purple and has received nominations for major awards including the Oscars and Grammys.

Anne Mensah is the Vice President of UK Content at Netflix. She oversees the development of major British series and films, helping shape the UK’s global television landscape.

Anne-Marie Imafidon is a mathematician, tech leader and founder of Stemettes, an organisation encouraging girls and young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and maths.

Emma Grede is a fashion entrepreneur and business leader who co-founded Good American alongside Khloé Kardashian. She is also a founding partner of SKIMS, helping build some of the most successful fashion brands of the last decade.

Rochelle Humes is a presenter, singer and entrepreneur. Beyond her entertainment career, she founded the beauty brand My Little Coco, focusing on inclusive skincare for families.

Ayesha Ofori is the founder and CEO of Propelle, an investment platform designed to help women grow their wealth and become more confident investors. She previously managed over $500 million in client assets advising high-net-worth individuals. Today, she is a prominent voice on financial empowerment, working to close the gender investment gap.

Fisayo Longe is the founder and CEO of Kai Collective, a fashion brand that has gained global recognition for its bold prints and inclusive designs. Her pieces have become widely popular across social media and among international celebrities.
