A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to more than two decades in prison after carrying out a fatal and unprovoked attack on a woman in Leicester. Chukwuemeka Ahanonu drove the wrong way along a busy city road before crashing and overturning his BMW near Leicester Royal Infirmary on 24 June 2025. Shortly after fleeing the wreckage, he launched a violent assault on 56-year-old Nila Patel, who had just stepped off a bus and was speaking on the phone to a friend as she walked home.
