SCORCHER SHARES HIS TRUTH ABOUT HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH WRETCH 32

Grime artist Scorcher has addressed his relationship with Wretch 32 during a sit-down on the Winners Talking Podcast, revisiting a long-running rift that has followed both artists for years.

Speaking to host Pound Sterling, Scorcher responded to comments made by Wretch 32 in a previous interview, where he referenced rumours surrounding a personal situation involving Scorcher’s former partner.

“So what is the truth with you and Wretch's thing? Because Wretch said when the heart wants what the heart wants.”

Scorcher dismissed the framing of the situation, making clear he felt it had been reduced to something he could not respect.

“If he thinks I'm a punk, I'm sure he'd let you know. That's all it is, bro. We don't wish man no bad. We don't rate them, though.”

He went on to express frustration at how the situation had been discussed publicly, insisting it was not something he would have ever chosen to speak on.

“But a man just did something that I just could never, I just couldn't ever rate.”

Scorcher also questioned why the topic had been revisited in interviews, suggesting it may have been used to generate attention around music released at the time.

“I don't want to go into certain other aspects of shit. But it's like, rah, this is your thing. Your thing is you're going to use this like a promo tool. That'd just never be me, bro. I'm not that kind of guy.”

The original comments from Wretch 32 came during a 2025 interview with Zeze Millz, where he addressed the rumours and defended speaking on the situation publicly.

“Scorcher, all of that stuff, are you ever going to talk about it?”

He rejected the idea that the matter should be treated as entertainment, while offering his own perspective on what had happened.

Speaking on the topic, Wretch said:

“I guess all I will say on the topic is like, no one took no one's partner when no one was in jail or anything like that. Not that the situation is ideal, but sometimes in the court of the body, the heart overrules the head. And it's like you won't understand that until it's your heart that's beating for something or for someone.”

The pair were once closely linked within the UK grime scene, emerging around the same era and moving within similar creative circles during their rise. Their fallout has since become a talking point among fans, with many reflecting on how their relationship shifted from close association to public distance.

Online reaction to Scorcher’s latest comments has been mixed, with some users urging discretion in relationships and others reflecting on the emotional complexity behind the situation. One person commented:

“Moral of the story is; stop bringing your partners around your friends and keep your private life private. As they say, a private like is a happy life and people can’t ruin what they don’t know.”

Another said:

“If you know about these two in the past they were like brothers smh sad how life is.”

A third comment read:

“It’s such a tough one, I feel Scorcher’s pain in this one. I believe he loved her, he just happened to be in jail and lost someone he loved, not to anyone but someone who he called a brother… while bro code was broken BUT wretch truly loved her too and they got a child and happily married so then is like yikes. It’s not like he wanted to hit and quit it. Then the question comes if Scorcher was not in jail, would he have married her and have a child with her? Treat her well? I guess we never know… but it sucks.”

As the discussion resurfaces, it once again highlights how old tensions in UK rap continue to follow artists years later, long after the original moment that sparked them.
