TRUMP REVEALS HIS MUM HAD A 'CRUSH' ON KING CHARLES DESPITE SIGNIFICANT AGE GAP

US president Donald Trump has shared a rather unexpected personal story while delivering a speech outside the White House during a ceremonial welcome for the visiting royals. As he greeted King Charles III and Queen Camilla, he reflected on how prominent the monarchy once was in his childhood home and revealed that his mother allegedly held quite an affection for a young Charles.

Addressing the audience, Trump explained that his mother, Mary Anne, was captivated by the Royal Family to the point that she followed their public appearances with great enthusiasm. He claimed she watched royal coverage for long stretches and even admitted she had a particular fondness for the then future monarch, despite being significantly older than him at the time.

He told the crowd,

"My mother had a love for the Queen. She had a love for Charles. She had a crush on Charles. She just thought he was the most wonderful young man."

Trump continued by adding,

"She would watch, she would wait, she would be there for hours watching."

He went on to describe how significant royal occasions were in his family’s home, likening them to major cultural moments that everyone gathered to witness. According to him, his mother viewed the Royal Family as symbols of dignity and tradition, turning their televised ceremonies into unmissable events.

Trump explained that his mother’s admiration came not just from their status but from what she believed they represented. He recalled that she saw Charles as polite, well mannered and almost idealised him in a way that amused him as a young boy. Her interest apparently extended to Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana, whom she also admired deeply.

He said,

"The whole family had great respect for the Queen. Any time there was something with the Queen it was like a big deal in our household."

Trump added,

"My mother would talk about the Queen, she would talk about Charles and she would talk about Diana."

While his intention seemed to be a warm tribute to his mother, the revelation quickly drew attention online as many were struck by the randomness of the confession. Some found the story harmless while others could not resist commenting on the president’s ability to veer into unusual territory during otherwise formal moments.

One commenter wrote,

"In all fairness, people do watch and talk about the royal family like that. Baffles me why, but they do."

Another said,

"These people just be exposing themselves at will, SMH."

A third person was more blunt, writing,

"He is talking sh*t all the time! How embarrassing to be American these days! How long will we have to hear this?"

Despite the reactions, others noted that the Royal Family has long held a curious influence over people around the world, particularly among older generations who followed every milestone with keen interest. Trump’s anecdote, while unusual, was seen by some as a reflection of that era.

Still, the moment produced a mix of amusement and bewilderment among viewers, with many commenting that only Trump could turn a ceremonial welcome into a confession about his mother’s youthful crush. Even so, he appeared entirely sincere as he shared the memory, treating it as a touching tribute rather than an attempt at humour.
