MAYA JAMA ON HER PERFECT FUTURE PARTNER: “THE NEXT PERSON I MEET I WANT TO MARRY AND HAVE KIDS WITH”

Maya Jama has always been refreshingly open about her personal life, and her approach to love is no exception. Following her recent split from British rapper Stormzy for the second time, Maya has candidly reflected on what she’s looking for in a future partner, particularly as she celebrates her milestone 30th birthday.

“Thirty is a milestone,” Maya shared in an interview. “I’m so happy right now, but the next person I meet I want to marry and have kids with, so obviously I’m feeling fussy.”

Her outlook highlights a sense of independence and self-worth, honed over years of personal and professional growth. Maya’s relationship history has been under the public microscope for years. Her four-year relationship with Stormzy was one of her most high-profile romances. While the couple split in 2019 amidst speculation surrounding Stormzy’s infidelity, they briefly reconciled in early 2023. However, by July, the pair had parted ways again, leaving fans heartbroken but respectful of Maya’s decision to prioritise her happiness.

Before Stormzy, Maya was linked to Rico Gordon, a relationship that ended tragically when Rico was killed in a gang-related shooting in Bristol. This devastating loss shaped Maya’s perspective on life and resilience. In addition to Stormzy, Maya has also  dated basketball star Ben Simmons. Although neither confirmed the relationship, the two were frequently spotted together in 2022, sparking curiosity about their dynamic. It even became public that Simmons had proposed, and she said yes. However, that chapter also appeared to close quietly, with Maya continuing her focus on her career.

Maya highlighted the fulfilling life she has built independently, noting, “I’ve created such a nice life for myself alone, and I don’t want anyone who’s not going to add to that. I’m in this lovely bubble, and I don’t want you unless you make me happy. If you’re not, I kind of don’t need you.”

Her comments also offered a glimpse into the lessons she’s learned from past relationships. She explained that self-fulfillment is a key priority: “Some people are like, ‘I’m lonely, I need someone.’ But the mission in life is to make yourself happy, then find someone who brings something that matches that to the table.”

Maya’s openness about her romantic goals and self-worth has resonated with her fans, who admire her independence and clarity on what she desires in a future partner.
