'TECH QUEEN' INFLUENCER FACES 20 YEARS IN U.S PRISON OVER MULTIMILLION-DOLLAR CYBER FRAUD

The FBI has arrested Nigerian Influencer and self-proclaimed 'tech queen' Sapphire Egemasi in connection with a large-scale fraud scheme that targeted several US government agencies. Egemasi, a programmer known as the “tech queen” on social media was arrested on April 10th in the Bronx, New York, alongside her Ghanaian co-conspirators, after allegedly serving as the groups tech lead.

As the syndicate's tech lead Egemasi was allegedly the orchestrator and creator of fake websites and oversaw multiple fraudulent wire transfers. Fake websites designed by Egemasi reportedly mimicked official US government websites and duped unsuspecting victims into entering in their confidential information which was later used to defraud them and steal their funds.

FBI Arrests Nigerian Tech Enthusiast Sapphire Egemasi Over Multi-Million  Dollar Fraud Scheme

Egamasi was arrested for her role in the saga alongside her co-conspirators, including Ghanaian-born Samuel Kwadwo Osei the reported mastermind behind the crime operation.

The groups arrests follow a federal indictment issued in 2024 which accused the suspects of internet fraud and money laundering between September 2021 and February 2023. In 2022 Egemasi allegedly rerouted £713,000 stolen from Kentucky into a PNC Bank account and later rerouted more than £243,000 into a Bank of America account. The criminal scheme allegedly defrauded the city of Kentucky out of millions

Before her arrest, Egemasi was based in Cambridge, UK however U.S. authorities suspect she had also lived in Ghana at some point, where she met crime organizer Osei and her other co-conspirators.
