NOTTINGHAM RAPPER 'BANDIT' CHARGED WITH SHOOTING POLICE OFFICER IN THE FOOT

Aisha Zaman, 27, who is also reportedly known as UK rapper Bandit (A1), has been charged with firearms offences following an incident that left a police officer seriously injured in Nottingham city centre.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:50am on Sunday, October 18, when PC Lee Lane approached two individuals reportedly acting suspiciously at a bus stop on Angel Row.

During Zaman's appearance at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on October 23, prosecutors provided further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Prosecutor Mairin Long alleged that Zaman had taken an adapted shotgun from a man and concealed it inside her jacket. The court heard that the firearm subsequently fell to the ground and discharged after the officer approached, striking him in the foot.

It was also revealed that Zaman had spent the previous evening socialising with friends at a Turtle Bay restaurant and bar in Nottingham before visiting a nightclub and later meeting other individuals.

PC Lane was taken to hospital following the incident and has reportedly undergone several surgeries. Police have confirmed that he remains under medical care, with the officer requesting privacy as he continues his recovery.

Zaman, who resides in the Hyson Green area of Nottingham, has been charged with possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.

During her court appearance, she spoke only to confirm her personal details, while members of her family were present in the public gallery. She was subsequently remanded in custody and is expected to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on November 20 for a plea hearing.

The investigation has also resulted in several additional arrests. Jahmal Ruddock-Senior, 35, has since been charged with assisting an offender, while five other individuals have been released on bail as police continue their inquiries.

Detective Chief Superintendent Rich Bull, who is leading the investigation, thanked members of the public for their support and reassured residents that officers were continuing to pursue several lines of inquiry.

The case has attracted considerable attention online, particularly following reports linking Zaman to her alleged rap alias. While some social media users have made light-hearted remarks about the news, the incident has left a serving police officer with significant injuries and prompted an extensive criminal investigation.

Zaman has not been convicted of the offences, and the allegations against her remain subject to ongoing court proceedings.
