Smokers who are pregnant or care for young kids will be handed electronic cigarette products, as part of the council's stop smoking service. Officials within the Labour-run council hope that the plan will further improve the health of those who live under them and help them cope with the rocketing cost of living at the moment.Over nearly 3,000 Lambeth families – many of which having kids – fall into poverty each year due to their intense smoking habits, according to council estimates.Councillor, Ben Kind, revealed some more intricate details of the scheme within a written response to a question from colleague Issa Issa about what Lambeth council were actively doing to tackle child and family poverty in the borough.
