The MOBO Awards returned in style this year, celebrating its 30th anniversary with a huge ceremony at Co-op Live in Manchester.

The biggest names in music, entertainment and culture pulled up for the event, with stars stepping out in some serious looks on the red carpet. Leigh-Anne Pinnock stunned as she arrived at the ceremony, while FLO members Stella Quaresma, Renée Downer and Jorja Douglas all turned heads in glamorous dresses.

Meanwhile, Olivia Dean wowed in a striking black sheer gown, and singer Tallia Storm risked a wardrobe malfunction with one of the most daring outfits of the night.

But when it came to the awards themselves, Olivia Dean was the undeniable star of the evening.

The singer songwriter picked up three of the biggest prizes of the night, including Best Female Act. She also took home Album of the Year and Song of the Year for her project The Art Of Loving and its hit single Man I Need.

Dean, whose sound blends pop, funk and soul, also took to the stage as one of the night’s performers alongside FLO, Aitch and Myles Smith.

One of the standout moments of the night came from a huge grime celebration curated by DJ Target. The performance featured legends of the genre including Chip, D Double E, Nolay, Scorcher and Wiley, celebrating the influence of grime across the MOBO’s 30 year history.

The ceremony also welcomed several major international guests. Pharrell Williams received the Global Songwriter Award, while hip hop legend Slick Rick was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Other winners on the night included FLO for Best RnB Soul Act, Central Cee for Best Hip Hop Act, Nova Twins for Best Alternative Act, and Ezra Collective for Best Jazz Act.

In the dance category, Sherelle took home Best Electronic Dance Act, while producer P2J was named Best Producer.

The international categories also saw huge names take home trophies. Ayra Starr won Best International Act, Wizkid took home Best African Music Act, and dancehall icon Vybz Kartel won Best Caribbean Music Act.

Outside of music, content creator and streamer Niko Omilana was crowned Best Media Personality.

But of course, residents know award shows are never just about the trophies. The night also produced a viral moment after Tyrique Hyde appeared to approach his former Love Island co star and ex girlfriend Ella Thomas while streaming live.

As he attempted to say hello, the camera captured Ella seemingly turning her head and ignoring him completely, leaving the interaction looking a little awkward. The moment quickly started circulating online as viewers debated whether it was a deliberate snub.
