NATALEE BARNETT DEFENDS THE GIRLS SPOT GYM MEMBERSHIP PRICING AMID BACKLASH

Fitness entrepreneur Natalee Barnett, also known as Natalee B Fitness, has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding the £120 monthly membership fee for her women-only gym, The Girls Spot. In a recent video, Barnett defended the pricing, emphasising the gym's unique offerings and the value it provides to its members.

The Girls Spot distinguishes itself by offering a range of specialised amenities and classes tailored for women. These include self-defence training, Muay Thai sessions, and workshops focusing on women's health issues such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and menstrual cycle-aligned fitness. Barnett has positioned the gym as a sanctuary for biological women seeking a safe and empowering environment to train.

Addressing the backlash over the membership cost, Barnett compared The Girls Spot's pricing to that of established premium fitness clubs. For instance, David Lloyd Clubs offer memberships that can exceed £170 per month, depending on the location and package chosen. Barnett argued that the criticism often comes from individuals for whom such a fee is not within their budget.

Barnett also expressed disappointment over negative comments from within the Black community. She said,

"The amount of Black women, which pains me, and Black men that I've seen tweeting negatively, trying to knock me and my business, you need to ask yourselves, why does Natalie and The Girls Spot bother me so much."

She further asserted,

"You guys will never ever be able to succeed in trying to knock me. The Girls Spot is going to be so successful that it will probably end up on your doorstep."

The gym's women-only policy has also sparked debate, with some critics arguing that it excludes transgender women. Barnett has maintained that the decision aims to provide a safe space for biological women, particularly those who have experienced harassment or discomfort in co-ed fitness environments. This stance has garnered both support and criticism, including public backing from author J.K. Rowling, who has defended Barnett's right to create such spaces.

Despite the controversy, Barnett remains steadfast in her vision for The Girls Spot. She continues to advocate for the importance of dedicated spaces where women can focus on their fitness and well-being without external pressures or concerns.
