MIS-TEEQ CONFIRM REUNION AND WEMBLEY ARENA SHOW

British girl group Mis-Teeq have officially announced their long-awaited reunion, more than two decades after going their separate ways, with a special performance in London to celebrate a major milestone in their career. The trio, who became one of the defining acts of the noughties with their signature blend of UK garage and R&B, will reunite for a show at OVO Arena Wembley on 12 September to mark 25 years since the release of their debut album Lickin’ On Both Sides.

Speculation about a comeback had been building in recent weeks, but the group confirmed the news on Friday, delighting fans who have long hoped for a return.

Band member Su-Elise Nash reflected on the group’s legacy, saying she was proud of the role Mis-Teeq played in helping bring UK garage to mainstream audiences and celebrating the lasting connection their music still has with fans today. She described Wembley as the ideal place to honour that journey and the memories created over the years.

Mis-Teeq became one of the UK’s biggest girl groups in the early 2000s, scoring chart hits including Why, Scandalous, One Night Stand, All I Want, Style, B With Me and Can’t Get It Back. The trio sold more than 12 million records worldwide, earned a Brit Award nomination and won a MOBO Award for Best Garage Act in 2002.

Known for their distinctive fusion of garage beats, R&B harmonies and rap, the group carved out a sound that stood apart from their contemporaries. Their songs combined soulful vocals with the two-step rhythms that dominated UK charts at the time, while their British identity and songwriting style helped define their appeal.

Singer and rapper Alesha Dixon became especially known for her energetic rap verses and memorable catchphrases, which became a hallmark of the group’s biggest hits. Their second album, Eye Candy, featured Scandalous, which went on to become Mis-Teeq’s best-known track and even found success in the US after appearing in the 2004 superhero film Catwoman. Despite their success, the group split in 2005 after their record label, Telstar Records, collapsed financially.

Since then, Alesha Dixon has remained a familiar face in entertainment, launching a successful solo career and later becoming a television personality. She won Strictly Come Dancing in 2007 and later joined the judging panels of both Strictly and Britain's Got Talent.

Speaking about the reunion, Dixon said the trio were excited to revisit the music and celebrate it with the fans who made it special, jokingly referencing one of her iconic rap lines by saying she was looking forward to her daughters seeing Mis-Teeq “coming back strong”.

The concert is being promoted as “One Night Stand with Mis-Teeq”, although it remains unclear whether the Wembley show will be a one-off event or the start of a wider comeback involving more tour dates or new music.

Rumours of a reunion intensified last month after fans spotted a newly verified Instagram account for the group posting archive clips from old interviews and music videos. The official announcement came with a video featuring the trio travelling to Wembley by motorbike — a nod to the artwork from their debut album.

Singer Sabrina Washington described the reunion as emotional, saying it was moving to look back 25 years later and realise how deeply their music had resonated with audiences around the world.

With nostalgia for early 2000s music still strong, Mis-Teeq’s comeback is set to be one of the most talked-about reunion moments of the year.
