Podcaster Madame Joyce is standing firmly behind her controversial take about NBA players not being "global stars." During a recent episode of her show, Joyce sparked a heated debate after claiming that NBA star Klay Thompson didn’t have the same level of global recognition before being linked to rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

Drawing comparisons to other high-profile celebrity-athlete pairings, she argued that Megan’s international fame helped boost Thompson’s visibility beyond the basketball world.

Unsurprisingly, sports fans quickly pushed back. Many pointed out Thompson’s long-standing achievements, including multiple championships and his role in shaping a basketball dynasty. To them, his legacy was already firmly established, making Joyce’s claim seem dismissive of his career. Still, the backlash hasn’t been one-sided.

The comment read, "She doesnt know because the UK has engineered basketball to not be as visible in the UK. Her take is based on nuance that doesn’t not favor the UK. Elsewhere in Europe, NBA players are megastars. If basketball was a priority in the UK as it SHOULD be I promise you she would know just based on proximity and culture."
