KID CUDI DROPS M.I.A. FROM TOUR AFTER CONTROVERSIAL COMMENTS SPARK BACKLASH

Kid Cudi has officially dropped M.I.A. from his Rebel Ragers tour following backlash over comments she made during a recent performance.

The controversy began during a show in Dallas, Texas, where M.I.A., real name Mathangi Arulpragasam, was performing as the support act.

Clips circulating online show the crowd reacting negatively after she told the audience she couldn’t perform her track Illygal because “some of you could be in the audience,” referencing the song’s themes around undocumented migrants.

In the same set, she also made comments about being “cancelled” and described herself as a “brown Republican voter,” which drew loud boos from sections of the crowd.

Following the performance, Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, addressed the situation on Instagram, saying he had been flooded with messages from fans who were unhappy with what was said.

He described the situation as “very disappointing” and stated that he had made it clear to M.I.A.’s team ahead of the tour that he did not want anything potentially offensive or divisive included in the performances.

Despite believing that message had been understood, the fallout has now led to her removal from the tour entirely.

M.I.A., who rose to global fame with hits like Paper Planes, has long been known for weaving political themes into her music and public persona. However, her more recent statements have continued to divide opinion.

Residents, was this a step too far… or just an artist speaking their truth? 👀
