FOOTBALLER IVAN TONEY CHARGED WITH ASSAULT AT A NIGHTCLUB IN CENTRAL LONDON

England footballer Ivan Toney has been charged with assault following an alleged incident at a nightclub in London's Soho.

The 30-year-old striker was charged on Thursday 31 July with assault causing actual bodily harm in relation to an alleged incident which reportedly took place on 6 December 2025 at a nightclub on Wardour Street.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Toney, who is from Northampton, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 24 September.

A spokesperson for Toney said the footballer “acknowledges the charge” and, although he is “naturally shocked”, is looking forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court.

The alleged incident was first reported by The Sun in December, with the newspaper reporting that Toney had been arrested following an alleged headbutt at the nightclub.

Toney currently plays for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli after previously starring for Brentford, where he established himself as one of the Premier League's most prolific strikers.

The Metropolitan Police said: “A man has been charged with assault following a Met investigation.”

The force confirmed that the charge relates to an alleged assault at a nightclub on Wardour Street, W1, on 6 December 2025.

Toney is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 24 September, where the allegations will begin to be dealt with through the court process.

The footballer has not been found guilty of the offence. The charge is an allegation and the circumstances surrounding the incident will ultimately be determined through the legal process.
