The parents of 14-year-old Ibrahima Seck have paid heartbreaking tribute to their son after he was fatally stabbed outside the Fairway Inn pub in New Moston, Greater Manchester. Ibrahima was attacked around 5pm on Sunday and later died in hospital.
“He was so smiley and always made everybody laugh. He was a good boy,” his parents said in an emotional statement. “The killers have killed two people – me and my son. Why would anyone do this to him? He does nothing wrong. My family want justice.”
Describing Ibrahima as “funny, caring and hardworking”, they added that he was “our best friend” and a “well-liked young boy”.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed a fifth person had been arrested on suspicion of murder. Among those already in custody are two teenagers, aged 14 and 16, and another 14-year-old arrested overnight. A 14-year-old girl and a 37-year-old woman were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The scene of the attack has become a place of mourning, with flowers, photos, and written tributes laid in memory of the teenager. Ibrahima’s father was visibly distraught as he left flowers, showing a photo of his son on his phone to reporters and repeating “he’s been killed”. His mother collapsed in grief, supported by loved ones.
A resident told local press that after being stabbed, Ibrahima ran to a house on nearby Nevin Road, where he reportedly told the homeowner, “I don’t want to die.”
One note left among the tributes read: “Things need to change, knives down gloves up.” Another said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this horrific time. There are good people in this city, we pray for your son.”
As the investigation continues, Detective Chief Inspector John Charlton appealed to the public for help: “We’re supporting the family and are determined to give them the answers they deserve. We urge anyone with information, doorbell or dashcam footage to come forward.”
Detectives described the stabbing as an incident that has “rocked the local community”, urging anyone in the area at the time to contact police immediately.
