Ed Sheeran Reportedly Worked on Tribute Song and Video for Late Friend Jamal Edwards
Ed Sheeran has reportedly worked on a new tribute song and music video 'to honour' his late friend Jamal Edwards, who helped launch his career.Jamal Edwards passed away from a heart attack, almost two months ago, at the age of 31. People working in the entertainment industry paid tribute to his impact on the industry. Sheeran was a close friend of Edwards and was left devastated by his unexpected loss.
The Sun newspaper released a series of photographs of what appeared to be Sheeran at a recording studio in Soho, London. He has reportedly asked Edwards' closest friends and family to allegedly star in a music video as a touching tribute to Edwards. Edwards' mother, Brenda, and his sister, Tanisha, are said to star in the music video. The singer was joined by US musician Russ, actors Rafferty Law and Tom Felton, and rapper Big Narstie.
A source told The Sun: "Ed looked in good spirits when he arrived but it was a sombre occasion and things got very emotional on set. Ed wanted to do something to celebrate Jamal's incredible legacy because he was a huge part of his life. Brenda wore all black and had sunglasses on as she arrived. It was really brave of her to get involved after such a loss, but she knows how close Ed and Jamal were and so it felt poignant to be part of it."At the time of Edwards' death, Sheeran had penned a heartfelt tribute to his late friend on Instagram.
He said: "Jamal is my brother. His light shone so bright. He only used it to illuminate others and never asked for anything in return. A star's light shines for millions of years after they go, and his will continue to light up every dark moment. I would not be here without him, professionally and personally. There will never be anything close to what he is."
