A woman has left viewers stunned after appearing on This Morning to discuss her plans to marry a man on death row, with the ceremony set to take place just weeks before his execution.
Thirty one year old Tiana Krasniqi joined the programme to speak about her relationship with James Broadnax, a Texas inmate convicted of double murder. Despite the circumstances, she described their connection as genuine, referring to the relationship as a “fairytale” and something she fully stands by.
With the clock ticking, Krasniqi revealed the urgency behind their decision to marry, explaining that Broadnax is due to be executed later this month under Texas law, where capital punishment is still actively enforced. The pair have maintained a long distance relationship throughout his time in prison, building their bond through calls, letters and approved visits, a dynamic that, while unconventional, is not entirely uncommon in the United States prison system.

She also shared that her commitment goes beyond the wedding itself. Krasniqi is actively campaigning to have his death sentence overturned, standing firm in her belief in his case and positioning their relationship as something worth fighting for, both emotionally and legally.
The situation has also reignited conversation around the stark differences between justice systems in the UK and the United States. The UK abolished the death penalty in 1965, with it now fully illegal under all circumstances.

In contrast, several states in the United States, including Texas, still carry out executions, often following lengthy appeals processes. For UK viewers, the idea of a state sanctioned execution remains distant, making stories like this feel even more jarring when placed in a modern, real time context.
The interview quickly sparked mixed reactions online. Some viewers questioned the reality of forming such a deep connection under those circumstances, while others focused on the emotional weight of choosing love in a situation with such a definitive end date.
