Just when we thought Summerhouse had shut its doors for good, Netflix is taking us right back to the estate,  and this time, Jaq is getting her moment! Netflix has officially announced Jaq, a six-part Top Boy spin-off centered around Jasmine Jobson’s fan-favourite character. The series, currently a working title, will be created and written by Ryan Calais Cameron, with filming expected to begin in 2027.

But Jaq isn’t the only character getting another run. Barry Keoghan will also reprise his role as Irish gangster Jonny McGee in Jonny Boy, a five-part prequel exploring the character’s origin story. Jonny was introduced during Top Boy’s final Netflix season as part of the ruthless Irish crime operation that crossed paths with Sully. Original Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett will write the series, while Keoghan will also produce through his WolfCub Productions company. Netflix has teased that the prequel will even have a love story at its heart.

Back to Jaq, who became one of Top Boy’s standout characters after being introduced when the series was revived by Netflix in 2019. Tough, fiercely loyal and always about her business, she worked closely with Dushane and Sully while becoming one of the most prominent women in the Summerhouse operation. Jobson’s performance ultimately earned her the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress in 2024.

Jaq’s final season also left her at a serious crossroads. Following the death of her sister Lauryn, she was left caring for her nephew alongside girlfriend Becks. The loss pushed Jaq to reconsider the life she was living, eventually leading her to steal Sully’s drugs in hopes of getting out of the game,  before deciding to return them.

While Jaq made it out of the finale alive, Dushane was fatally shot by Sully, before Sully himself became the subject of the show’s final mystery.

After Stefan decided against avenging his brother Jamie’s murder, Sully returned to his car and was suddenly shot dead by an unidentified figure,  leaving viewers with one huge unanswered question: who killed Sully?

The announcement has already got Top Boy fans talking, with many celebrating Jaq’s return while revisiting one of the show’s biggest unanswered questions.

One commenter wrote: “Im down for this, i need to know who killed Sully.”

And with Jaq herself previously among the characters viewers have theorised could be responsible, her return could make things very interesting.

Three years after Top Boy signed off, Summerhouse clearly still has some stories and secrets  left to tell. 👀
