British rapper Skepta has spoken out in defence of North West after videos from Paris Fashion Week sparked widespread discussion on social media. The controversy began after footage emerged showing several men attempting to approach and take photographs with North, who recently turned 13 and attended the Vetements Spring/Summer 2027 show in Paris. The teenager, known for her bold fashion choices and growing public profile, debuted a punk-inspired look during the event.
Following the circulation of several clips online, Skepta took to X to express his concerns about how adults were interacting with the teenager.
He wrote:
"My fans know I try to stay out of peoples business but damn the way grown men, complete strangers, try to use North makes me sick."
One particular video appeared to show a young man moving in for a hug after North extended her hand for what many viewers interpreted as a handshake.
Responding to the footage, Skepta posted: "A blind man could see she wanted a handshake kmt"
The comments section quickly became divided, with some social media users questioning whether the interaction had been inappropriate.
After one user asked: "Is hugging a social offense now?" Skepta replied: "What are you talking about?! She is 13 years old and she put her hand out for a handshake, you don’t ignore that."
The discussion intensified further when another user commented: "With all those piecing she's only a child by age not outlook. She basically skipped being a teenager"
Skepta strongly rejected the remark, responding: "WOW!! Protect your kids people. Protect your kids!"
The rapper's comments were widely shared across social media, with many users agreeing that adults should be more mindful when interacting with children in public settings, regardless of their celebrity status.
The Shade Borough's Instagram page also featured reactions from followers who backed Skepta's stance.
One commenter wrote: "He's absolutely right but her parents should be protecting her from this..."
Another added:"He’s absolutely correct! Especially towards a CHILD still developing their voice!!"
A third person commented: "Everyone just needs to apologise Kanye and call it a day"
While North West continues to attract attention due to her famous family and growing presence in fashion and entertainment, many online users echoed Skepta's call for greater respect and protection for children navigating life in the public eye.
