A man who was arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of acclaimed singer-songwriter Talay Riley will face no further action, police have confirmed. Talay Riley, whose birth name was Mark Olayinka Orabiyi, died after a stabbing incident in Silvertown, east London, on June 5. Emergency services were called to the area near Pankhurst Avenue and Rayleigh Road at around 9am, where Mark was found with serious injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation was launched by detectives, who believe Mark was involved in an altercation with another man shortly before his death. The second man, aged 26, also suffered stab wounds during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment. He was later discharged after receiving medical care.

Police confirmed that a man arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident has now been released with no further action being taken against him. Officers have also stated that they are not seeking anyone else in relation to Mark’s death. A file is currently being prepared for the coroner, who will determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Mark was a highly respected figure within the music industry and built a successful career as both a singer and songwriter. He first signed a major publishing deal with Global Publishing at the age of 18 and quickly established himself as a talented songwriter. One of his earliest successes came when he wrote rapper Chip’s chart-topping UK number-one single Oopsie Daisy.
