

Tributes have poured in for a respected British singer-songwriter Talay Riley who reportedly died following a fatal stabbing in East London. Emergency services were called to Pankhurst Avenue in Silvertown at around 9am on Thursday, June 5, following reports of a violent incident. When officers arrived, they discovered a 35-year-old man suffering from stab injuries in the garden of a property close to Rayleigh Road. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Riley, whose full name was reportedly Mark Olayinka Orabiyi, was a highly regarded figure within the music industry, having built an impressive career as both a performer and songwriter. He worked with major artists including Chip, Usher, Dua Lipa and Britney Spears and secured his first publishing deal at just 18 years old. Among his most notable achievements was co-writing rapper Chip's chart-topping UK hit Oopsie Daisy, which reached number one in the UK Singles Chart.
Following news of his death, Chip was among those to pay tribute.
Sharing an emotional message on Instagram, the Tottenham-born rapper wrote: "You ain't deserve to go out like that fam, fly high bro.
"Your pen will live forever. What a day man. What a life. RIP Talay Riley."
He later added: "I'll cherish the memories forever fam. Prayers and thoughts go out to your family."
Social media has since been flooded with messages from friends, fans and fellow musicians remembering Riley's contribution to British music.
One person wrote on X: "Another senseless killing of a young British male. Such a talent gone at such a young age. Rest in paradise, Talay."
The incident also left a second man injured. A man in his twenties was taken to hospital after sustaining multiple stab wounds. Police said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A 25-year-old woman and two men, aged 24 and 27, were arrested near the scene on suspicion of murder. All three remain in police custody while investigations continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke said: "My thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of the man who has died.
"I know that the community will be understandably concerned by the incident. There remains a large police presence in the area, and I would urge anyone with concerns to speak with officers at the scene.
"Three people have been arrested in connection with the stabbing and our enquiries are continuing at pace.
"I would ask anyone with information or CCTV footage that could assist our investigation to get in touch with police."
