NICKI MINAJ BLAMES RACISM FOR HER ARREST AND ‘DISGUSTING TREATMENT' IN AMSTERDAM

US rapper Nicki Minaj has spoken out following her recent arrest in Amsterdam. The ‘Pink Friday’ hitmaker blamed racism for her arrest and "disgusting treatment" at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport, which ultimately forced her to cancel her Manchester show.

On a livestream with fans, the rapper shared her horror about the situation, saying, "Not being able to get to Manchester, I don't know when was the last time I felt that low. Not only that but knowing that something is being done to you on purpose because you are a confident other race."

The mother of one argued that her race was the reason she was mistreated by police, and she went on to add that she believed some of them "took joy" in the process. Minaj continued, "The treatment was just disgusting, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. And yes, I've been to jail before. It has nothing to do with if you've been to jail before."

Initially, Dutch police issued a statement that a woman (matching Nicki’s description) had been arrested for trying to transport what they described as "soft drugs" to another country. In a subsequent update, police stated that they had released Minaj after making her pay a fine and that she could now "move on." While Minaj herself described being treated as less than human, a spokesperson for the police put forth that Minaj's arrest was "normal procedure when somebody is trying to pass border control with drugs in their luggage."

Minaj, who is by some accounts the most successful female rapper of our time, seems to have somewhat put the incident behind her as she’s continued on her trailblazing tour. Her shows following her arrest have boasted sold-out crowds and star-studded guests. Understandably, Nicki concluded her conversation about her arrest with fans, stating, "I'm on tour, and if I give energy to that, I can't do what I have to do… My Barbz come first."
