A woman who goes by the name Selina has taken to social media to expose comedian Mo Gilligan, 37, for allegedly abandoning their 18-month-old baby. In a video, Selina claimed the comedian was the father of her child, placing the word “dad” in quotation marks. She revealed that Mo “made it very clear” that he did not want to be a father at the time, however, things took a turn when Mo popped out with his new girlfriend, who is now allegedly pregnant.
Selina confesses to reaching out to Mo’s new girlfriend while she was 12 weeks pregnant to let her know that she was expecting his child, but claims she was swiftly blocked by the mystery woman. Selina says Gilligan got his solicitors involved and made her get a DNA test to prove that the baby was in fact his. She went on to bash the comedian for choosing to raise another child when their own child “isn’t even two”.
Branding the comedian a “piece of sh*t”, Selina criticised Mo’s “nice guy” persona and his ability to continue in a business-as-usual fashion instead of helping her to raise their baby. She then accuses Mo of not acknowledging their child exists or celebrating him, even claiming that the star has never taken their child out. Selina then shares the pride she has for their child, calling him “unbelievable” and the “funniest little kid”. Before explaining that she is not gaining “loads of money” from the situation, she goes on to issue a final “f*ck you” to Mo Gilligan and praises other single mothers.
The Shade Borough comments were very much divided on the situation, with our Residents calling for “sexual discipline” amongst men while others calling for women to take prior precautions before engaging in sexual activities. One Resident said: "I’ll say it again mandem need to exercise sexual discipline I don’t feel sorry for no man who gets these women pregnant nobody forced you to shoot up the club." A second added: "If he didn’t want the baby then he shouldn’t have been spreading his big nyash. The baby is here now, be responsible." A third chimed in: "I will never understand people coming online unprovoked, to tell strangers their private business." While a fourth stated: "Have children with men who want to be fathers!"
Mo Gilligan, born Mosiah Bikila Gilligan, grew up in Lambeth and Camberwell in South London, born to British parents of Jamaican and St Lucian heritage. After his parents separated, he was raised by both in Camberwell. He attended Pimlico School and a performing arts school in Pimlico, where his interest in comedy took root. Gilligan’s rise to fame began while working in retail, where he started posting short comedic videos online. He gained traction through his vibrant characters and “grime comedy” style, eventually attracting attention in 2017 when Drake shared one of his catchphrases on Instagram.
That exposure opened the door to mainstream success. Influenced by icons like Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock, he launched his debut stand‑up tour Coupla Cans, later released globally on Netflix as Momentum. Today, Gilligan is a triple BAFTA winner, having co‑hosted The Big Narstie Show, hosted his own The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, and serves as a regular panel judge on The Masked Singer UK and The Masked Dancer UK . In August 2024 he also launched a new podcast, Beginning, Middle & End, interviewing fellow creatives about their journeys.
