A memorial site has now been set up in Soho, where people are flocking to mourn British influencer Klaudia Zakrzewska, popularly known online as Klaudia Glam, who recently died after being mowed down by fellow influencer Rielle UK when she mounted the pavement and struck several pedestrians.

The incident happened at around 4.30 am on 19 April on Argyll Street, Westminster, between Oxford Street and Great Marlborough Street, in central London’s busy retail and theatre district. What appears to be the since boarded up shop window that Rielle drove into has been adorned by Klaudia’s family and friends with floral arrangements and sentimental pictures of her. The memorial site was set up at what had previously been a cordoned off crime scene between Monday and Tuesday, 4 and 5 May.

Zakrzewska was initially transported to a nearby hospital with life threatening injuries, where she was declared to be in a critical condition after the incident.

As videos of the incident began flooding social media, it generated a large amount of news coverage. Initial reports had prematurely suggested Klaudia had died closer to the time of the incident, with friends sharing tributes. On 20 April, it was purported by a friend of Klaudia’s, who also claimed to have been with her during the incident and can allegedly be seen in the videos, that she had passed away. In one photo post that Klaudia’s “best friend” shared, showing her and Klaudia pressing their cheeks together whilst making kissing faces, she said:

“Words can’t describe my pain right now my fucking best friend my sisterr maynnn”

On another post she added:

“I’m the one left with the memory of watching my best friend someone I love get killed right in front of me… left there, fighting for their life, slipping away. That image doesn’t leave me. It replays over and over, and I can’t escape it.”

However, Klaudia’s mother refuted claims she had died at that point, telling online observers that she was still fighting for her life, whilst acknowledging that doctors did not think she was likely to survive.

Unfortunately, after fighting for nearly a week, Klaudia succumbed to her catastrophic injuries. Her passing was announced in her mother’s following statement:

“My precious daughter has gained her wings and is now at peace among the angels. She brought so much love, joy, and light into our lives, and that light will never fade. I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for the kindness, love, and support you’ve shown.”

The driver, fellow influencer and hairdresser Gabrielle Carrington, also known online as RIELLEUK, who has over 359,000 followers, remains in custody. Police sources have confirmed that she was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, a charge that remains under active consideration as enquiries continue.

The incident, which also left a second woman in her 30s needing treatment for minor injuries and a man in his 50s with life-changing injuries, remains under investigation by DCI Alison Foxwell of the Metropolitan Police.

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, of Specialist Crime South, has urged any potential witnesses to come forward. She said:

"As our enquiries continue, our thoughts are with those injured and their loved ones. While this incident took place in the early hours of the morning, venues in the area were still open, and we believe a number of people will have seen what happened. I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision, or any activity prior to it that they feel may be of relevance, to come forward.

The information you have - however minor you believe it may be - could be of crucial importance to investigators."
