Wednesday night's episode of Love Island has left viewers divided after Priya Jaswal found herself at the centre of a heated online debate over comments she made about fellow Islander Elicia Bailey's job.
The tension began after the villa's Grafties challenge, where Islanders were shown clips and moments from outside the villa. One of those clips featured Elicia, who had already been dumped from the show, appearing on Love Island: Aftersun. During her appearance, she labelled Priya the villa's "biggest game player", explaining that she was not convinced Priya's connection with Aidan was genuine.
The remarks clearly struck a nerve.
While discussing Elicia's comments back in the villa, Priya branded her "bitter" and "jealous" before taking aim at her day job.
"Go back to the National Rail," Priya said. She later added: "Elicia, you work for the National Rail, why are you sitting on Aftersun?"
Her remarks immediately caught the attention of the other Islanders, with Kavan quickly stepping in to challenge what she had said.
"There is nothing wrong with working for National Rail," he responded, appearing to defend Elicia and push back against the suggestion that her occupation should be used as an insult.

The exchange has since become one of the most talked-about moments from the episode, with many viewers accusing Priya of "job-shaming" Elicia instead of addressing the criticism that had been made about her.
Others felt the comments came across as classist, arguing that there is nothing shameful about working for National Rail. Some also praised Kavan for speaking up in the moment rather than staying silent.
Aidan also appeared uncomfortable with the situation, later telling Priya that he did not agree with the comments she had made about Elicia's job.

However, not everyone saw the situation the same way.
Many viewers came to Priya's defence, arguing that her remarks were simply a response to someone who had publicly criticised her first.
One person wrote: "PRIYA ATE simple. She got disrespected and responded back."
Another added: "She just meant go back to your day job. It's not that deep."

Others questioned why the comment had even been perceived as an insult in the first place, with several pointing out that National Rail employees are well paid.
"National Rail pay well,"
One viewer commented, while others echoed similar sentiments, suggesting they did not understand what Priya was trying to mock.

Meanwhile, Elicia has since responded to the backlash, maintaining that she simply answered a question on Love Island: Aftersun and stood by her opinion that Priya had been playing a game in the villa.
Whether viewers saw Priya's remarks as an unnecessary dig at someone's profession or simply a heat-of-the-moment clapback, the exchange has quickly become one of the season's biggest talking points, with fans continuing to debate where the line is between defending yourself and taking things too far.
