LOVE ISLAND GEORGE KNIGHT 'WAS KICKED OUT OF THE VILLA FOR USING OFFENSIVE SLUR'

LOVE ISLAND GEORGE KNIGHT 'WAS KICKED OUT OF THE VILLA FOR USING OFFENSIVE SLUR'

George Knight's sudden departure from Love Island has come under renewed scrutiny after reports emerged alleging the footballer received a formal warning from producers over the use of offensive language while in the villa. At the time of his exit, ITV stated that George had left the programme for "private reasons". Days later, the bombshell contestant publicly explained that he had chosen to return home after learning of a serious health issue involving a close family member.

However, fresh allegations suggest there may have been additional factors behind his departure.

According to reports from The Sun, George was allegedly spoken to by producers after using language that was described as "unacceptable" during filming. The publication did not disclose the alleged remark.

The claims come after some viewers had already criticised George's behaviour on screen. Fans previously called out comments he made during his time in the villa, including describing fellow Islander Mica's bandana as "exotic", choosing to send home British-Indian contestant Samraj during a challenge, and suggesting that black contestant Ope was "too much". Fans also pointed out that Angelista remarked that he hadn't uttered one word to her upon entering the villa.

Responding to the latest allegations, ITV told the publication: "We have a duty of care towards George and as such will not be commenting further."

George has not publicly addressed the reports.

Before the allegations surfaced, George spoke in detail about the circumstances surrounding his departure during an appearance on The Showbiz Fix podcast.

The former Islander recalled being unexpectedly pulled away from filming after senior members of the production team requested to speak with him. He was then informed that his parents had contacted producers with urgent family news.

Describing the situation as deeply personal, George explained that an immediate family member had experienced a health concern.

After speaking to his parents, he said returning home felt like the only option.

"They felt they weren't doing their job as parents if they didn't tell me," George explained. "Hearing that news made me realise it was the right time for me to leave."

Since leaving the villa, George has remained in the public eye, appearing on podcasts, giving interviews and attending events. Meanwhile, both his former love interest Robyn and fellow contestant Ope have since been dumped from the villa.

When George's departure was first announced, an ITV spokesperson said: "For private reasons George has left the Love Island Villa. We have a duty of care towards George so will not be commenting further."

It has also since emerged that George was barred to appear on either of the show's spin-off programmes following his exit. He was absent from the live Aftersun episode and has not featured on the nightly companion vodcast, The Debrief.

In recent weeks, George has been spotted attending various public events, including an ANOTR gig, prompting some viewers to question why he was not spending time at home given the family circumstances he had described. Clips of the former Islander have circulated widely on TikTok, with some users criticising his public appearances.

Addressing the backlash during an interview with Capital, George defended his decision to continue with aspects of his normal life while supporting his family.

"The motto in the Knight household is, 'life continues'. We crack on," he said. "We've obviously got to address the elephant in the room, which we're doing, but around that, life does continue."

He added: "I still pursue and do things that I want to do and that I'm interested in. Naturally, people might see that because they're not things I like to do in my room on my own. And I'm doing that around the roles and responsibilities that I have as a family member."
