LIN MEI DEFENDS CENTRAL CEE AFTER HE IS CRITICISED FOR USING BLACK CULTURE

Social commentator Lin Mei rushed to UK rapper Central Cee's defence as critics claim the rapper uses black culture to benefit his career. In a tweet, Lin Mei condemned those debating Central Cee's ethnicity, saying: "The amount of racism, yes RACISM Central Cee faces from mainly Western black people is disgusting."

She added: "Are many of you not ashamed to be obsessed by his race/skin colour?"

Although many fans are unsure of the 'BAND4BAND' singer's ethnicity, it is alleged that he was born to an English mother and a Guyanese-Chinese father.

X users continued to go back with Lin Mei, with one user claiming the rapper "cosplays as a black person", therefore it is "fully justified" for him to receive backlash.

Other users doubled down, claiming that there was no racism in the critiques. However, Lin doubled down harder, stating that suggesting an individual should not be successful due to the colour of their skin is in fact racist.

Ex-friend and fellow social commentator Zeze Millz appeared to weigh in on the topic with a tweet saying: "Let me ask you this? You think a black person could become the biggest star in Bollywood?  Actually anyone outside of their culture? Wouldn’t happen. And I’ll leave it there".

The discussion surrounding Central Cee's place in the black community has been a hot topic since he launched his career, with fellow rapper Aitch even calling him out during their rap feud, claiming he made racist tweets in 2013.

Residents were quick to make their opinion known on our Instagram page. One wrote, "No I’m not ashamed at all. No one was being racist to him, people were just calling him out for being the culture vulture that he is." A second added, "I can see why Zeze Millz blew & she didn’t.. she has no talent other than to go against public opinion hoping to go viral. Zeze was smart to distance from her." A third chimed in, "If only there was this much energy for the systemic racism that has been endured over decades till today.
