British YouTuber and musician Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, better known as Yung Filly, has appeared before Perth District Court for the third day of his trial, where jurors were shown graphic medical photographs documenting injuries sustained by the alleged complainant.

The 30-year-old has pleaded not guilty to 10 charges arising from an alleged incident at the InterContinental Hotel in Perth, Western Australia, in September 2024. He denies six counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of impeding another person's normal breathing by applying pressure to their neck. Under Australian law, Barrientos is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Day three of the trial centred on the evidence of Dr Hoy, a specialist from Western Australia's Sexual Assault Resource Centre, who examined the now 20-year-old complainant approximately 48 hours after the alleged incident.

Giving evidence before the jury, Dr Hoy presented 21 close-up photographs taken during the examination and detailed the injuries she observed across the complainant's face, neck, chest and body.

The doctor described seeing "multiple large bruises", "severe swelling" to the complainant's face and neck, and what were alleged to be bite marks.

Jurors also heard detailed descriptions of the injuries recorded during the examination. Dr Hoy told the court she observed a "green purply bruise" on the complainant's neck, alongside "a linear bruise" in the same area.

The doctor also identified "a large yellow bruise" above the complainant's right breast, another bruise measuring approximately four centimetres by eight centimetres on the same breast, and additional bruising she described as yellow in colour.

Turning to injuries on the complainant's face, Dr Hoy told the court there were,

"Two linear red swollen bruises",

On her right cheek, while bruising on the left side of her face extended down towards her neck.

The jury also heard medical evidence relating to injuries on the complainant's neck. Referring to bruising and swelling on the left-hand side, Dr Hoy said it "could have been caused by obstructing the jugular vein", explaining this was consistent with a form of strangulation.

The evidence follows testimony heard earlier in the trial from the complainant herself, who spent two days being questioned by both the prosecution and defence.

During cross-examination, defence barrister David Edwardson challenged several aspects of her account. Jurors were shown videos recorded before the alleged incident, including one in which the complainant said:

"Philly touched me, not in a bad way, in a good way. I love Philly."

Another clip played in court showed her saying:

"I'm going to marry him."

When questioned about the footage, the complainant said Yung Filly had been her idol at the time and described herself as "naive".

The court previously heard the complainant had worn what she described as her lucky white top to Bar1 nightclub in the hope of gaining access to the VIP area, where she later met Barrientos before travelling with him to the InterContinental Hotel.

Prosecutors allege the pair initially had consensual sex before the encounter became non-consensual. They allege Barrientos then repeatedly assaulted the complainant by slapping, biting and strangling her before carrying out further sexual offences.

Barrientos denies all of the allegations against him.

As updates from the third day of the trial spread online, many social media users shared their reactions to the evidence heard in court. One person left a comment saying:

"I reckon because she was a big fan of him & clearly obviously interested in him, he saw it as an invite & confirmation for him to do anything he wanted to her. It started off consensual but he let his real 'fantasy' or whatever out bcoz he thought she wouldn't speak out on it because she likes him."

Another wrote:

"I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't the first person he had done that to."

A third added:

"I remember he acted like he didn't do that smh lust is genuinely the biggest down fall of a man."

The trial continues before a jury at Perth District Court, with further witnesses expected to give evidence in the coming days before the case is eventually handed to jurors for their deliberations. Barrientos continues to deny all charges.
