Sir David Beckham has come to the defence of his wife Victoria Beckham after her understated response to England’s dramatic World Cup victory became a talking point across social media. The Beckham family were among the high-profile guests watching England take on Norway from a VIP section at Miami Stadium on Saturday evening. David and Victoria were joined by three of their four children as they watched the tense quarter-final clash unfold.

When Jude Bellingham fired home the extra-time winner to secure a 2-1 victory for England, celebrations erupted around the stadium. David immediately jumped to his feet, punching the air in delight as England booked their place in the next round.

Victoria, however, had a very different reaction.

While those around her celebrated wildly, the former Spice Girls star remained seated and appeared to take in the moment calmly before casually reaching for her phone to capture the occasion.

Her reserved response quickly caught the attention of viewers, with images of the moment spreading rapidly online. Many social media users joked that Victoria’s reaction stayed true to the famously cool and composed image she has maintained throughout her career.

Among those poking fun was comedian Jenny Johnson, who shared a tongue-in-cheek post on Instagram that quickly gained traction.

“There’s nothing like cheering your heart out for England from home, then they cut to Victoria and we see that classic Posh Spice smile! It’s so infectious!” she wrote.

She continued the joke by adding: “I used to think I got animated while watching sports, but Victoria blows my enthusiasm out of the water! Each time I see her I shout, ‘SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!!!!’ because her energy is electric!!!”

David later joined the conversation himself, showing he saw the funny side of the viral moment. Responding in the comments, the football legend posted a series of laughing emojis before defending his wife's reaction.

“She was celebrating inside I promise,” he wrote. “Her reactions were slightly slower than mine.”

The moment also reminded some fans of Victoria’s long-standing admission that football was never really her passion. Before marrying David, the singer openly stated during interviews that she had little interest in the sport and knew very little about its rules.

Despite that, she has spent decades supporting her husband throughout his football career and has frequently been seen at major matches and sporting events.
