Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has sparked a heated conversation online after revealing that he has a son named Jedidiah living in London before appearing unable to confirm the child’s exact age.

The artist, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., is one of Ghana’s most prominent reggae-dancehall musicians. Formerly known as Bandana, he has built a career spanning more than two decades, producing hits including “Dancehall King,” “My Level” and “Taking Over.” His profile grew further internationally after he featured alongside Major Lazer on Beyoncé’s 2019 track “Already.”

During a recent interview with broadcaster Serwaa Amihere on GHOne, Shatta Wale was discussing his family when he mentioned his publicly known children, Majesty and Leandra. He then casually added: “Then I have a son in London.”

When asked for more information, the musician revealed that the boy is named Jedidiah. However, it was his response to a question about his age that turned the focus of the conversation. Shatta estimated that Jedidiah is between six and eight years old, seemingly uncertain of the exact answer.

He went on to suggest that he remains in contact with the child and his mother, explaining:

“That’s his mother. She comes to Ghana. I talk to them.”
