Rapper and entrepreneur Krept has publicly responded to criticism surrounding a recent Nala's Baby x Latto pop-up meet-and-greet event in London after footage and images from the weekend sparked debate across social media. The discussion began after social media personality and activist Elaine The Pain commented on the event, where Krept's daughter Nala's brand, Nala's Baby, hosted a fan meet-and-greet with US rapper Latto. Concerns were raised after Nala was later seen outside the store alongside Latto's mascot while greeting supporters.

Addressing the situation, Krept explained that he was unaware his daughter had gone outside with the mascot and said he acted immediately once he realised what had happened. He stressed that the situation was never intentional and apologised to anyone who felt disappointed.

Before Krept responded, Elaine The Pain shared a message directed at the artist, encouraging him to address concerns publicly.

She wrote: "Krept I say this with love, you took us on this journey and when something's not quite right or something's gone wrong, you need to take responsibility as the face of the company. People are disappointed and they need to hear from you."

"Taking responsibility humanises your company and people will be quick to forgive. Acknowledging what went wrong also protects your baby from being spoken about negatively. Take my advice or don't. But I don't like how these people are speaking about your child and parenting. As parents we all get it wrong but it's how we handle it going forward."

Krept then responded directly, providing further context about the event and explaining the circumstances behind the collaboration with Latto.

He said: "Elaine, I hear you and respect you highly because you definitely advocate for our people. So I don't think this is coming from a bad place at all. But just for context about the event from me directly. Apologies if it came across wrong of course not my intention. Latto's team reached out and said she's just had a baby, she's pregnant in her album cover and its called big mama, and also to build a relationship for when we go America. They wanted to do a fan meet and greet with us so that's why we done it."

"The event genuinely was calm, just young kids even parents and babies in there coming in and out taking pics and we were giving away free products. Nothing mad was going on in there at all. I bought Nala cos they wanted to meet her. In terms of the mascot, that was a genuine oversight. I hold my hands up. When we walked in people were shouting 'Nala, Nala.' So when we was inside she wanted to go out and say hello to everyone, she's a social butterfly."

"I initially said no, because I was setting up inside. She kept asking and the security (who she knows) said it's fine they will take her. So i said ok. I didn't even know a mascot was outside hence why I'm not there. Then a few minutes later someone said she's with the mascot and I got someone to get her. But it was definitely my fault and an oversight, but genuinely not intentional. I get your concerns but i promise you it isn't the way its portrayed. But I hold my hands up and apologise if you guys feel disappointed it was never my intention."

"It was literally just Latto had a baby, shes pregnant on her cover and wants to work together. A + B = C type thing. Literally nothing more or less. But her team were really nice and accommodating to Nala and she genuinely was inside just making friends with everyone. Hope that makes sense. Love always."

Following Krept's explanation, Elaine welcomed his response and thanked him for addressing the concerns directly.

She replied: "Thank you for explaining to us what has happened. I appreciate you doing it cause a lot of people wouldn't. I believe it was an oversight and it happens.

You know I did this video out of love and respect for your baby and I didn't like what people were saying. I'm glad you were able to address it. Big Love to you and Nala."

Krept then responded once more, acknowledging her intentions and bringing the conversation to a positive close.

"I know it wasn't out of malice at all. Just passion and rightfully so. Much love."
