Dalai Lama Apologises for Asking Young Boy to Suck His Tongue

Dalai Lama has issued an apology following viral video of asking minor to suck his tongue.

Tibetan Spiritual Leader Dalai Lama has apologised to a young boy and his family following a video showing the Tibetan spiritual guru kissing the boy and instructing him to "suck my tongue."

He then brings the boy's chin to his mouth and gives him a mouth kiss while pointing to his lips and saying, "Then I think finally here also."

The Dalai Lama asks the young boy in the video to "suck my tongue" after kissing him and sticks his tongue out at him.

"Thank you, we are the same humans, brothers and sisters," he says after giving the boy two hugs.

The video quickly gained traction over the weekend sparking upset as many users expressed "shock" at the "inappropriate" behaviour.

Others expressed worry that the esteemed guests in the video were clapping and laughing in the background without attempting to halt the situation.

Tibetan culture states sticking out your tongue is a customary way to greet someone and is regarded as a sign of respect.

The Dalai Lama, who serves as Tibet's spiritual leader, has lived in exile in Dharamshala, northern India, since 1959 following a failed uprising against China.

Lama has since apologised for this actions issuing a statement on his social media which stated: "His Holiness wishes to apologise to the boy and his family, as well as his many friends across the world, for the hurt his words may have caused,"

"His Holiness often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras.”

The apology concludes, "He regrets the incident."
