Social media personality and rapper Yung Filly has admitted to possessing cannabis in Australia, just days after being granted permission to return to the United Kingdom while awaiting a retrial on outstanding rape charges. The 31-year-old entertainer, whose legal name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, entered a guilty plea to a charge of possessing a prohibited drug at Mandurah Magistrates' Court in Western Australia on Tuesday. The offence allegedly occurred while he was on bail for separate sexual offence proceedings.

Barrientos did not attend the hearing in person. The court imposed a fine of 750 Australian dollars (approximately £397) and ordered him to pay an additional 308 Australian dollars (£163) in court costs.

The latest development comes shortly after Judge Linda Black approved changes to his bail conditions, allowing him to return to the UK before a retrial takes place. Under the revised arrangements, Barrientos was required to leave Australia by August 31.

Earlier this year, a jury acquitted him of three rape charges connected to allegations involving a woman at a hotel in Australia. However, jurors were unable to reach verdicts on three additional rape counts, prompting prosecutors to seek a retrial. Barrientos was also convicted of two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm relating to injuries allegedly caused by biting the complainant's neck and breast.

During an August court hearing, prosecutors confirmed they intended to proceed with a new trial concerning the unresolved rape allegations. Judge Black noted that while the retrial is expected to take place next year, scheduling delays remain possible.

In granting permission for Barrientos to return home, the judge stated that it was appropriate for him to remain in his home country until required to appear in court again. As part of his bail conditions, he must stay in the UK, return to Australia at least 10 days before the retrial begins, and surrender his passport within 24 hours of re-entering the country.

At the original trial in July, Barrientos denied all allegations. Prosecutors claimed he assaulted a 20-year-old woman in a hotel room while touring Australia in September 2024. The woman’s identity has not been disclosed due to legal protections.

The court heard that Barrientos and the complainant first met at a nightclub following one of his performances. Several days later, he was arrested in Brisbane.

Born in Colombia and raised in the UK, Barrientos rose to prominence through his online content and music career. He has appeared on a number of BBC programmes, collaborated with the YouTube group Beta Squad, represented England in Soccer Aid, and featured on Channel 4's The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer.
