Dancehall icon Vybz Kartel has seemingly taken a swipe at fellow Jamaican star Shaggy in a recent social media post, reigniting debate among fans over influence and legacy within the genre.

Kartel shared a post featuring the caption: “POV: When you're not a manufactured pop star with little talent and no influence on the culture”, a remark many fans interpreted as a thinly veiled dig at the Grammy-winning ‘Boombastic’ hitmaker.

The apparent jab comes after supporters noticed that Shaggy did not mention Kartel during a recent discussion about dancehall heavyweights, prompting speculation of growing tension between two of Jamaica's most prominent music figures.

Neither Kartel nor Shaggy explicitly named each other in connection with the latest controversy. However, social media users were quick to connect the dots, with many interpreting Kartel's post as a response to the omission.
