US rapper, Young Dolph, has been shot dead in a drive-by shooting. According to reports, he was fatally shot whilst buying groceries at a local store in Memphis.
The rapper released his debut album back in 2016, and his career blew up from there, gaining millions of views over the years.
Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland said "The tragic shooting death of rap artist Young Dolph serves as another reminder of the pain that violent crime brings with it," he said.
According to his cousin, the rapper had been visiting his grandmother who had been unwell, and also planned to give out turkey's to the homeless as he has done in previous years.
This is not the first time that Young Dolph has been shot. Another drive-by-shooting took place in 2017 near Charlotte. On that occcasion, the bullets only hit his vehicle.
However, a few months later he was injured as a result of a shooting, but his injuries didn't turn out to be life threatening.
Many artists shared their condolences, including Gucci Mane, Chance the Rapper and Jaquees. Record Producer, Oman said:
"We losing too many black men to poor health, racism, jail, etc. already. we gotta find a way to heal and not add to that with our own violence. prayers for young Dolph family and friends. RIP."
