Rapper Stormzy has decided to open up about his past relationship with presenter Maya Jama.
Speaking to Louis Theroux on Theroux's new interview series, the 29-year-old artist admitted to making mistakes during their four-year relationship but described his experience of the breakup as a "catalyst" for his growth as a person.
"My break-up, that was probably the biggest catalyst for growth as a man", Stormzy explained to Theroux, 52.
The rapper went on to express that losing Jama was one of the biggest losses a man could have.
"It was like, OK, you made a mistake and you lose someone you loved, someone you cared for, someone who is special to you."
"That's probably the biggest loss a man can have, isn't it? Away from someone passing away, that's the biggest loss you can have."
The couple broke off their four year relationship amid rumours that the rapper had been unfaithful. Despite denying these allegations, Stomzy did confess to 'disrespecting' and being 'inconsiderate' towards her.
In the interview, Stormzy went on to hint at the mistake that he made during his four-year relationship with Maya, adding that he never wished to feel that way again.
He revealed,
"I didn't do what a man should do to fully appreciate love, and care for his woman."
Maya Jama was recently engaged to US basket baller, Ben Simmons. However, the two reportedly called off their engagement allegedly, after Maya Jama was seen no longer wearing the engagement ring he had given her.Details of Stormzy's romantic relationships have been extremely private since his relationship with Jama, with many speculating that the rapper has not truly moved on from the presenter.In a previous interview, the rapper declared that he still loves her 'wholeheartedly' and wants to marry and have children with his ex-girlfriend in the future.
